Literature Text

The siren sat upon the shore
And sang out to the sea.
Her voice carried across the waves
So sweet and merrily.

The sailors heard her haunting song
And sprang up to their feet.
They grabbed the ropes and sailed
Toward the sound that was so sweet.

The waves dashed upon the rocks
None missing but barely;
But the sailors carried on
So sweet and merrily.

The sailors came up towards the shore,
Toward the voice that churned their blood;
Nothing could deny them her.
Their desire was a flood!

The ship dashed upon the rocks,
It threw the sailors to the sea.
Their blood stained the rocks red
So sweet and merrily.

The siren sat upon the shore,
Looked at what she’d done.
She smiled so delightfully,
Her beauty was like the sun.
A ballad I wrote last year.
